Background

About Osaka Bang

The Story

Osaka Bang opened as a permanent storefront on Carrer d'Aldana in February 2026 after years as a travelling takoyaki stall at festivals including Primavera Sound. Australian founder Jasmine Angel learned her recipes in Osaka, Japan, and runs the kitchen alongside partner Carlos Ortega on the bar. The tiny Sant Antoni venue stays open late, with music spanning 1970s and 1980s Japanese and Spanish records.

The Cuisine

The short menu centres on Osaka street food: okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and snacks such as premium rice balls filled with garlic and white miso paste wrapped in nori. Vegan curry and a cucumber and wakame salad round out the savoury side, and a cheesecake with white miso, vanilla and caramel made in collaboration with Pasté BCN anchors dessert. Drinks lean Japanese, draft Asahi, whisky highballs, sake, alongside a few Catalan wines.

The Team

Jasmine Angel, originally from Australia, is the founder and head chef; partner Carlos Ortega runs the bar and front-of-house. Weekend kitchen support comes from Akiko and Masumi.
