Mikan opened in April 2023, founded by chef Dan Jin (known as 'Tan'), Woody Wang, and Arthur Holland Michel. Before the physical restaurant, the team experimented with private dinners, bento box delivery, and homemade chili crisp. 'Mikan' means 'mandarin' in Japanese and is also the name of chef Tan's cat. The concept blends Dan Jin's North Korean, Chinese, and Japanese heritage into a wine bar format with small plates and natural wines.
