Casa Pepi opened in late 2024 in El Clot as the latest project from Grup Amiks (the Bar Pimentel, V de Vermut and Culkin team, led by Martín Pimentel). The restaurant is a tribute to José María Ferraz ('la Pepi') and his family's home-cooking heritage: Castilian, Andalusian and Catalan recipes filtered through modern techniques.

Background

About Casa Pepi

The Story

Casa Pepi opened in late 2024 on Carrer de la Sèquia Comtal in El Clot, as the latest project from Grup Amiks - the Barcelona hospitality group behind Bar Pimentel, V de Vermut, Culkin and Piel de Gallina. The restaurant is a tribute to José María Ferraz, known to the family as 'la Pepi', and the menu walks through the home-cooking heritage of his family. Signature dishes reference José María's life: the Bomba de carne con allioli y salsa brava honours his mother's origins in la Barceloneta. The room leans into an Almodóvar-kitsch 1980s Spanish aesthetic - floral wallpaper, old family photos, cultural references - with José María's favourite songs woven into the playlist.

The Cuisine

The kitchen recovers grandmother's cooking with modern techniques: Castilian, Andalusian and Catalan home recipes rendered as contemporary tapas. Starters lean into gildas (boquerón, anchoa, bacalao), ensaladilla rusa with piparras and Jerez picos, tomato salad, croquetas (cecina, queso-cebolla, jamón-pollo, gambón), and coca de recapte with butifarra and escalivada. Hot tapas: the signature Bomba de carne con allioli y salsa brava (a Barceloneta homage), patatas bravas, soldaditos de bacalao, atún encebollado, red prawns al ajillo. The centrepiece cold dish is the Tartar de corvina with escabeche emulsion. Desserts stay traditional - torrija, tocinillo de cielo, arroz con leche, crema catalana, chocolate truffles - with a natural wine list to pair. Around €25-35 per person.

The Team

Casa Pepi is part of Grup Amiks (Bar Pimentel, V de Vermut, Culkin, Piel de Gallina, led by Martín Pimentel). Chefs Maikol Andrés Roman and Víctor Serrano lead the kitchen day-to-day, filtering José María Ferraz's family recipes - particularly those of his grandmother and mother - through modern techniques. The dining room is warm and unhurried, with service that leans neighbourhood-family rather than polished.

Experience

Casa Pepi Dining Experience

The interior is deliberately kitsch: floral wallpaper, old family photos, religious iconography, red-and-white checkered tablecloths - a visual tribute to the mid-century Spanish home that the menu also echoes. José María Ferraz's favourite songs are woven into the playlist. Service is warm and unhurried, and the crowd skews neighbourhood-first with a growing food-curious audience drawn by the Grup Amiks association.
