Background

About Il Palato

The Story

Il Palato was founded in Barcelona's el Clot neighbourhood by two Italians, Giuliano Ciaramitaro, from Cagliari, and Lorenzo Belloni, from Rimini, who had spent more than five years working in local hospitality before opening their own salumeria. The project combines a charcuteria counter with a small restaurant, positioned by the founders as 'the first Italian charcuteria-salumeria in the Clot district.'

The Cuisine

The kitchen focuses on Italian cured meats and cheeses, prosciutto, salami, mortadella, pancetta, mozzarella, gorgonzola, Parmesan, pecorino, served as boards, inside artisan focaccias, or paired with Italian wines and craft beers. Hot dishes include parmigiana di melanzane with buffalo mozzarella and smoked provola, cecina with rocket and 24-month Parmesan, and porchetta in padella. Products are also sold over the counter to take away.

The Team

Founders Giuliano Ciaramitaro and Lorenzo Belloni run the charcuteria and restaurant together, sourcing Italian products directly and serving them both at the counter and at the tables.
