Bar Canyí
Opened by the chefs behind Michelin-starred Slow & Low, Bar Canyí takes over the space of O'Pazo, a former Galician bar on Sepúlveda where they used to eat breakfast each morning.
Background
About Bar Canyí
The Story
Bar Canyí was born when chefs Francesc Beltri and Nico de la Vega, the duo behind nearby Michelin-starred Slow & Low, took over the space of O'Pazo, a Galician bar on Sepúlveda where they used to grab breakfast each morning before service. When the original owners retired, Beltri and de la Vega saw a chance to open the neighbourhood bar they had always wanted: one where haute cuisine technique serves traditional cooking rather than replacing it.
The Cuisine
The kitchen takes a neo-traditional approach, applying fine-dining technique to classic Spanish and Catalan bar food. Expect dishes like bomba de la Barceloneta, mojama made with tuna belly, croquetas with real jamón ibérico, and a burger stuffed with oxtail, pickles, and kimchi. Pricing is accessible at around €20–40 per person.
The Team
Francesc Beltri and Nico de la Vega split their time between Bar Canyí and Slow & Low. Beltri doubles as the unofficial DJ, curating vinyl selections each night to match the mood. The front-of-house team keeps things friendly and efficient, matching the bar's unpretentious energy.
