Background
About Azotea Club de Mar
The Story
Azotea Club de Mar is a new restaurant inside the renovated Club de Mar marina in Palma, opened to the public on 15 July 2026 after operating for years as a private dining room reserved for club members only. It occupies the upper floor of the club's Yacht Club building, with a dining room and terrace looking out over the marina and Palma Bay. It's part of a wider relaunch of the club's dining and retail spaces that also brought in sister restaurant Saltao, the relaunched Mar Salada by Crudo, and Cantina Grill. Interior designer Marta de la Rica did the room, working with light wood, natural textiles and plenty of natural light to keep the club's existing character rather than override it. Azotea Grupo, the Madrid-based hospitality group behind the project, took over the restaurant's day-to-day running under a strategic alliance signed with Club de Mar's management.
The Cuisine
The kitchen runs on market produce and traditional dishes rather than tasting-menu theatrics: rice dishes, fish of the day, some meat and simple desserts, built around what comes in from the Mallorcan market each morning. Azotea Grupo's CEO has described the approach as deliberately unfussy, prioritising well-executed classics over elaborate technique. No priced menu has been published yet, so specific dishes should be confirmed with the restaurant.
The Chefs
Manuel Berganza (executive chef, Azotea Grupo)
The Team
Executive chef Manuel Berganza runs the kitchen for Azotea Grupo, the Madrid hospitality group that also operates Azotea del Circulo, Picalagartos and other Azotea-branded restaurants. Berganza, from Gijon, joined the group in 2019 after working in New York, where he earned a Michelin star at Andanada 141, and earlier trained under chef Sergi Arola at La Broche and Sergi Arola Gastro (both two-Michelin-starred), with stages at El Poblet and Alinea. Azotea Club de Mar itself is run day to day by Azotea Grupo, under the alliance the group signed directly with Club de Mar-Mallorca's management.
