The Story
Brutus occupies the ground floor of a renovated brutalist-style building on Plaça Gomila, in Palma's El Terreno neighbourhood. It's part of a wider redevelopment of the square led by the Fluxà family, owners of Mallorcan footwear brand Camper, who commissioned architects GRAS and MVRDV to rework several buildings around Gomila. Restaurateur Perico Cortés, previously of Barcelona's Grupo Tragaluz, brought the restaurant to the square and commissioned Barcelona studio Sandra Tarruella Interioristas to design the interior, which leans into the building's exposed concrete and brutalist bones with timber furniture, dark mosaic flooring and a wood-fired oven visible from the dining room.
The Cuisine
The kitchen is Italian-influenced and built around a wood-fired oven, with antipasti, pizza, focaccia, pasta, meat and fish courses, plus classic Italian desserts like tiramisu and cheesecake. Dishes lean on Mediterranean and seasonal ingredients such as burrata, San Marzano tomatoes and 'nduja, alongside raw and cured plates like carpaccio. It serves brunch, lunch and dinner.
The Team
The restaurant was brought to Plaça Gomila by restaurateur Perico Cortés, previously of Barcelona's Grupo Tragaluz, who commissioned Sandra Tarruella Interioristas for the interior design. Brutus is one of a small group of restaurants under the same ownership on and around the square, alongside Patrón Lunares and Bar Bellver. No head chef has been named in press coverage of the restaurant.
