Torrent de Pareis

A dramatic limestone gorge in the Serra de Tramuntana that drops from about 180 m at its source in Escorca to sea level over 3.3 km, emptying at the beach of Sa Calobra. It shelters the endemic Mallorcan midwife toad (ferreret) and over 300 plant species, roughly a tenth of them Balearic natives. The rugged, flash-flood-prone terrain accounts for around a quarter of all mountain rescues on Mallorca, so conditions should be checked before attempting the hike.
