Casa Marco
Casa Marco
Casa Marco is the trattoria of Italian chef Marco di Tullio on Calle de Gaztambide, on the Argüelles side of Chamberí, open since the early 2000s, and it holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol, which calls its homemade pastas with truffle a deadly sin. It's a small, unpretentious room that's easy to walk past, and the cooking is genuine Italian home food built on fresh ingredients: no pizzas, but fresh pasta and risotto, carpaccios, beef with porcini and, in season, mushrooms and truffle. The Guía Repsol recommends the carbonara and the tiramisù.

Background
About Casa Marco
The Story
Before opening his own place, Marco di Tullio cooked at the restaurante San Carlos. He opened Casa Marco in the early 2000s in a modest bar on Calle de Gaztambide, at first simply adding a handful of tables to the tiny room and keeping the old bar counter; a later refurbishment traded some of the bar for more tables. Since then it has built a loyal following for authentic Italian cooking, away from trends and social media, and it holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol.
The Cuisine
Italian trattoria cooking in the classic structure of antipasti, salads, pastas, carpaccios, meat and desserts, with homemade pastas and rice made almost daily, a pasta of the day, and seasonal dishes with mushrooms or truffle. There are no pizzas.
What to Order
Two antipasti have long been house signatures: a vegetable and ricotta strudel with white truffle oil, and a fagottino of smoked scamorza wrapped in Tyrolean speck. Pastas over the years have included ricotta and spinach ravioli, gnocchetti sardi with truffle and pecorino, Sicilian aubergine lasagne, penne arrabbiata with speck, spaghetti with clams, pappardelle with porcini and truffle cream, and a carbonara made properly, with egg rather than cream. Beef features in a carpaccio with Parmigiano and truffle and a fillet with porcini sauce, alongside scaloppine with lemon and a swordfish carpaccio. Desserts include an amaretto-scented tiramisù, cassata siciliana and panna cotta.
