Background

About Cafés Guayacán

The Story

Cafés Guayacán grew out of more than twenty years the family spent visiting Jardín, a coffee town in Antioquia, Colombia, where they came to value what coffee generates as much as how it tastes. In 2014 they opened in Madrid, roasting specialty coffee themselves. It bills itself as Madrid's first specialty coffee roaster.

The Cuisine

They select, roast and share coffee with an eye on origin and process, and build experiences around it, from tastings to a 'barista for a day' session. The through-line is Colombian roots and a slower, more deliberate way of drinking coffee.

Experience

Cafés Guayacán Dining Experience

The focus is the coffee itself and the ritual around it: select, roast, taste, share. Alongside the bar there's a programme of tastings and hands-on sessions, so it reads as much as a place to learn about coffee as to drink it.

Getting There

It's on Calle de Fernández de los Ríos, 26, in the Chamberí district of Madrid.

Nearby

Chamberí is an elegant, residential district north of the centre, quieter and more grown-up than Malasaña or Chueca. Calle de Ponzano cuts through it as one of the city's best-known tapeo streets, and the surrounding blocks mix classic bakeries and neighbourhood bars with a wave of newer, more ambitious kitchens.
