Mesaquince brings Argentine live-fire cooking to l'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample under the 'Brasa Club' banner. The charcoal grill turns out entraña with chimichurri, vacío with escalivada, smoked mollejas, empanadas and provoleta, paired with grandma Coti's flan and an Argentine and Catalan wine list.

Background

About Mesaquince

The Story

Mesaquince opened in 2024 on Muntaner 189 as a self-styled 'Brasa Club', a long table built around charcoal, Argentine beef and wine. The house motto, 'no hype, just fire,' sets the tone: a live-fire grill is the heart of the kitchen, and the menu orbits around it with shared plates meant for family-and-friends dining. The room takes its cues from Buenos Aires by way of Barcelona, weaving Argentine classics together with a few Catalan and Spanish touches.

The Cuisine

The kitchen cooks over charcoal, with Argentine cuts, entraña with chimichurri, vacío with escalivada, smoked mollejas, anchoring the menu. Pica pica starters include croquetas of morcilla and entraña, empanadas de carne criolla and provoleta with red pesto and honey. Vegetables get their own brasa treatment (ember-roasted sweet potato, grilled leek with romesco, smoked cabbage), and desserts lean into Argentine classics: grandma Coti's flan with dulce de leche, and a house chocotorta.

The Team

The wine programme is led by Ferra, who curates a living list weighted toward bold Argentine reds (Malbec in particular) alongside crisp whites and a rotating selection of small producers. The list is also sold as a take-home wine shop. Alejandro, known in the house as 'Profe,' is the public face of the floor and reservations.
