The Story

Mediamanga opened in 2017 as the second venture of Ivan Castro and Manel Arjo, who also run Mont Bar (1 Sol Repsol) right next door on Carrer de la Diputacio. The name comes from a traditional Spanish children's game refrain. Ivan Castro was born in the village of Mont in the Vall d'Aran, and the restaurant sources ingredients from the family's own orchards there. The concept -- which they call 'bare cuisine' -- strips traditional Mediterranean recipes to their essence, reimagined with creative touches.

The Cuisine

Head chef Fran Agudo serves creative Mediterranean sharing plates based on traditional recipes, using products from the owners' orchards in Mont (Vall d'Aran) and small Catalan producers. The menu spans oysters (5-5.50 EUR), steak tartare with ponzu and foie gras (22 EUR), Maresme tear peas with mushrooms and amontillado (35 EUR), creamy rice with sea urchin (25 EUR), and txuleton by the 100g (15 EUR).
