Le Cucine Mandarosso
Le Cucine Mandarosso is the Barcelona outpost of chef Pietro Leonetti, who opened the small Sant Pere dining room on Valentine's Day 2008. The kitchen cooks home-style Italian food built on family recipes from Viterbo and Avellino, his grandmother Sofía's pasta and desserts based on his grandfather Crescenzo's pastry work.
Background
About Le Cucine Mandarosso
The Story
Le Cucine Mandarosso opened on 14 February 2008 on Carrer de Verdaguer i Callís, a few steps from the Palau de la Música. The idea began in 2002 when owner Pietro Leonetti, then an art student in Viterbo, started cooking his maternal grandmother Sofía's recipes for friends. With his father's help, he took over a small neighbourhood restaurant in the Sant Pere quarter in 2007 and reopened it as Le Cucine Mandarosso, named in honour of the many recipes shared by friends and family. The group later expanded with a sister location, Mandarosso, in Madrid.
The Cuisine
Le Cucine Mandarosso serves home-style Italian cooking rooted in family recipes from the owner's Viterbo and Avellino heritage. The kitchen focuses on pasta dishes, antipasti, seasonal mains, and traditional desserts, including cakes based on recipes from Pietro's grandfather Crescenzo, a pastry chef from Avellino. The dining room is tiled in green and decorated with vintage prints and an open kitchen pass.
The Team
The restaurant is owned and run by chef Pietro Leonetti, who opened the original location in 2008 and later launched the Madrid sister restaurant. The kitchen draws on recipes passed down through his family, including his grandmother Sofía's pasta and his grandfather Crescenzo's desserts.

Experience
Le Cucine Mandarosso Dining Experience
A small, tiled dining room in warm green with vintage prints, framed family photos and an open pass to the kitchen. Marble-topped bistro tables, bentwood chairs and shelves of wine and pantry staples give the space a homely, trattoria feel rather than a polished one. The room fills quickly at lunch and dinner, so conversations bump up against neighbouring tables.
