The Story
Colmado Carpanta opened on Passeig de Sant Joan Bosco, 51 in Sarrià as a modern take on the classic colmado, a small neighbourhood shop crossed with a rotisserie, where you can sit at the bar, grab a table, or order to take home. The founders describe the project as recovering the flavour of the dishes Barcelona has always eaten, without trends or fuss, keeping the carta deliberately short so the kitchen can do a few things well.
The Cuisine
The kitchen focuses on Catalan home cooking and slow-roasted pollo a l'ast. Tortillas are made fresh each morning in six styles, from the most classic potato-only tortilla to versions with sobrasada and membrillo, escalivada, or a Basque-inspired cod and salsa verde. Rotating weekday plats del dia include canelones de pollo con manzana, macarrones cardenal, fricandó, carrilleras guisadas, bacalao with raisins and pine nuts, and home-made croquetas. Everything is priced for regulars and available to eat in or take away.
The Team
Colmado Carpanta was founded by Guillem and Adrián, childhood friends since age three who nicknamed themselves carpantas, the Spanish slang their grandmothers used for kids who were always hungry. Together they run the shop as modern colmado-polleros, cooking the home-style dishes and rotisserie chicken they grew up eating in Sarrià.
