Background

About El Noi d'Alcoi

The Story

Chef Óscar Juan was born in Alcoy, Alicante, in 1974 and trained at the Escola Superior d'Hostaleria i Turisme in Sant Pol de Mar. After stints at Hotel Hawaii in Benidorm and Barcelona kitchens including Restaurant Spike in the Born and Danzatoria, he opened El Noi d'Alcoi on Carrer de Castellnou. In February 2020 he extended the project to Sitges with partners Ylenia and Álvaro, and the group has announced a second Barcelona address at Carrer Laforja 3 in Gràcia.

The Cuisine

The kitchen blends Catalan and Alicante Mediterranean cooking, with rice dishes as its signature. The carta includes paellas (mejillones, calamar i gamba; ceps i llagostí; bacallà), arroz negro, arroz meloso del Porto, arroz a banda, fideuà, and an on-order arròs caldoso de bogavante (minimum two people).

The Team

The Castellnou dining room is run by Chef Óscar Juan, with Ylenia and Álvaro partnering on the Sitges sister restaurant opened in 2020.
