About Chandigarh Cafe
The Story
Chandigarh Cafe opened in April 2022, founded by Paula Ospina (also behind Les Filles Cafe), Beatriz Mas, and Tomas Tarruella Jr. (son of the Tragaluz Group restaurateur), under the Simaba Group. Named after Le Corbusier's 1950s urban design experiment in Punjab, the restaurant occupies a period modernist villa from the same era in Pedralbes. The interior is decorated with iconic Pierre Jeanneret chairs, vibrant colours, curated vintage pieces, and abundant vegetation. Featured in Conde Nast Traveller and Vogue Espana.
The Cuisine
Chef Herve Escobar, formerly of three-Michelin-star Epicure at Hotel Le Bristol in Paris, leads a kitchen serving Mediterranean cuisine with strong French sensibility. The menu features duck confit croquettes, smoked aubergine hummus, campagne terrine, panko-breaded Colbert hake with tartare sauce, duck confit with cipolloni onions, beef onglet, langostino curry, wood-fired pizzas, and fresh pastas. Desserts include Eton mess with Maresme strawberries, chocolate mousse, and floating island. Around 40 EUR per person without drinks.
The Team
Chef Herve Escobar brings experience from Epicure at Hotel Le Bristol in Paris (three Michelin stars). The restaurant is part of the Simaba Group, co-founded by Paula Ospina, Beatriz Mas, and Tomas Tarruella Jr. Google reviewers give it 4.5/5 from 533 reviews.
