Monument
Arc de Triomf
The Arc de Triomf is a 29.8-metre triumphal arch built as the main gateway to the 1888 Barcelona World Fair, designed by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas and inaugurated on 20 May 1888. Constructed in reddish brick in the Neo-Mudéjar style, it is decorated with sculptural friezes including Josep Reynés's 'Barcelona rep les nacions'. Unlike most triumphal arches it was conceived as a welcoming gateway rather than a military monument, standing at the head of the Passeig de Lluís Companys.
