Sergio Torres is one half of the Hermanos Torres, the twin chefs who share the three-Michelin-star Cocina Hermanos Torres in Les Corts and the casual Eldelmar at Port Olímpic. They earned three stars in 2022 and a Michelin Green Star the following year. The brothers cook as a single signature with Javier Torres.

Biography

Early years

Sergio and his identical twin brother Javier were born in Barcelona in 1970. Both knew by age eight that they wanted to cook, an inheritance from their grandmother Catalina, who had cooked in stately homes in Linares and later in Barcelona. Their older sister Beatriz took them to culinary school at fourteen.

Career

After training, Sergio became head chef at a restaurant in Barcelona, while Javier worked under Santi Santamaria in Sant Celoni and Madrid. The brothers reunited and opened Eñe in São Paulo in 2006, where they cooked for nine years, followed by another four years at a sister restaurant in Rio de Janeiro. In 2008 they opened Dos Cielos on the 24th floor of the Meliá Barcelona Sky — first Michelin star in 2010, second in 2017. In July 2018 they moved the project to its current location in Les Corts and rebranded as Cocina Hermanos Torres, which earned two stars immediately (2019 guide), a third in November 2022 (2023 guide), and a Michelin Green Star in 2023. They opened the more casual Eldelmar at Port Olímpic in October 2024.

Philosophy

The Torres brothers cook as a unit — recipes, plating, and direction are shared. Their work is grounded in modern Catalan cuisine, with three cooking stations dominating the open kitchen at Cocina Hermanos Torres and a long-running commitment to sustainability that earned the restaurant its Michelin Green Star.

Frequently asked

How many Michelin stars do the Hermanos Torres have?

Three — all at Cocina Hermanos Torres in Les Corts, Barcelona. They earned the first two in the 2019 guide, just months after opening the restaurant in July 2018, and the third in November 2022 (2023 guide). The restaurant also holds a Michelin Green Star for sustainability and three Repsol Soles.

Where can I eat the Torres brothers' cuisine in Barcelona?

Two restaurants. Cocina Hermanos Torres in Les Corts is the three-Michelin-star tasting-menu flagship — a single open kitchen with three cooking stations around which the dining room is built. Eldelmar at Port Olímpic is the more casual sibling, opened in October 2024, focused on Mediterranean coastal cuisine and shared plates.

Do Sergio and Javier cook differently?

No. The brothers describe themselves as a single chef in two bodies — recipes, direction, and signature are shared. The restaurant credits both names equally.
