Parada Torres opened on 22 May 2026 inside Mercat de Santa Caterina, from Javier and Sergio Torres (Cocina Hermanos Torres, three Michelin stars; Eldelmar) in partnership with Grup Pantea (operators of Público, Can Fisher, and Superlocal). The two parties won a joint public tender for the space, with a 24-year operating concession. The site was previously occupied by Congelados Gabarró, which closed after COVID when its owner retired.
The 440 m² space is built around a circular marble bar that anchors the room (CaterNews and ARA describe 160 diners; Time Out reports 220 across the bar and dining room). Sliding windows open onto the market during trading hours, so the bar reads as a continuation of the market, then close in the evening so it can run independently. A grill installation is still pending. Service runs daily from 12:00 to 23:00.
The brothers framed the project as 'un homenaje a nuestra abuela y al bar de nuestros padres donde crecimos' ('a tribute to our grandmother and to our parents' bar where we grew up'). Sergio Torres on the format: 'Our parents sold the bar so we could do fine dining, and we wanted Barcelona to have a bar with our vision'.
The kitchen is firmly 'cocina popular' territory: escalivada, esqueixada, ensaladilla russa, croqueta de jamón de bellota, champiñones al ajillo, pepito de ternera, turbot al pil-pil, torreznos de Soria, anchoas del Cantábrico, ensaladilla de lubina en escabeche, calamari a la romana, bravas, oysters, tortilla de patata, botifarra amb mongetes, breaded prawns, ham rolls, and the project's signature item, gratinéed macarrones at €8.50. Fish, eggs, and cheese come from market vendors. Average ticket lands at €20 to €25 for a basic meal, €30 to €35 with premium product, and up to €45 with more ambitious orders. Sergio on the macarrones: 'Con un plato de macarrones a 8,5 ganas dinero' ('With a plate of macarrones at €8.50 you make money').
