Background

About Restaurant Can March

The Story

Can March opened in 1925 as an inn in Manacor, in the same house it still occupies today. A hundred years later it's run by Miquel and Tolo Gelabert, grandsons of the founders, so this is the third generation cooking in the family home. The restaurant marked its centenary in 2025. It sits on the edge of town, with views out toward both the countryside and the city.

The Cuisine

Chef Miquel Gelabert calls his cooking 'new Mallorcan': traditional island dishes given a modern, international turn, built around local, high-quality, seasonal produce. His words: they're trying to create their own style where the absolute protagonist is the product. The kitchen offers a daily market menu plus tasting menus, with à la carte alongside.

The Team

It's a family operation. Miquel Gelabert runs the kitchen; his brother Tolo (Bartolomé) runs the dining room with his wife Cati and their team of servers. Both brothers are grandsons of the couple who started the original inn in 1925.
