Mo de Movimiento
Mo de Movimiento
Mo de Movimiento occupies the former Teatro Espronceda on Calle de Espronceda in Ríos Rosas, rebuilt with recycled materials in a style the Guía Repsol describes as between brutalist and industrial, and it holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol. It's the flagship of Proyectos Conscientes, the company friends Felipe Turell and Javier Antequera set up in 2018, which hires and trains people facing barriers to work through foundations such as Norte Joven, Fundación Tomillo and Fundación Raíces. Roman-style pizzas from wood-fired ovens are the top draw, made with stone-ground organic flours from Sigüenza and Zamora and natural slow fermentation, alongside Mediterranean dishes and a wine list by sommelier Séga Mbengue Diop Diouf.

Begoña Vallejo, nuestra Responsable Financiera, llegó a Proyectos Conscientes porque el concepto le entusiasmó. About Mo de Movimiento
The Story
Mo de Movimiento grew out of Proyectos Conscientes, founded in 2018 by friends Felipe Turell and Javier Antequera to build a business around social inclusion and respect for the planet. The conversion of the old theatre involved designer Lucas Muñoz and a team of sustainability specialists, engineers and craftspeople, and it was planned around energy: two wood-fired ovens burning pruning wood feed a circuit of radiators and underfloor heating, and the patio is cooled with perforated clay jars and adiabatic walls. Staff come partly through partner foundations working with people at risk of exclusion, young migrants and people with disabilities, and the group's second restaurant is TRAMO. It's cash-free: card or app only.
The Cuisine
Mediterranean cooking built on organic, artisan products from small producers the team has visited: stone-ground organic wheat from Molino Despelta y la Sal (Sigüenza) and Molino de Cerecinos (Zamora), fermented slowly without added yeast; artisan mozzarella from Quesería Zucca in Valladolid; organic Iberian ham from free-roaming pigs in Jerez de los Caballeros; organic eggs from Ávila; pasture-raised chicken from La Vera; and vegetables from organic gardens in La Vera, Toledo, Zaragoza and Motril. Coffee comes from an association of women growers in Cauca, Colombia.
What to Order
Roman-style pizza is the house speciality, with a thin crust from the wood ovens; the Guía Repsol singles out the one with green asparagus and Iberian papada. Beyond the pizzas, past menus have included a salmorejo of La Vera tomatoes with Motril avocado, artisan burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes, and roast pasture-raised chicken with skin-on potatoes. There are vegan options.
The Wine
Sommelier Séga Mbengue Diop Diouf, who also runs the wine at sister restaurant TRAMO, has built a list around respect for the land, small producers and wines with their own identity. He was named in Sommelier Edit's Top 100 Sommeliers España 2026, his second year in a row on the list.

Mo de Movimiento Dining Experience
The room wears its history openly: walls keep traces of the building's past as a theatre and television studio, the furniture is made from the theatre's reassembled original timber, demolition rubble became benches, and the kitchen is tiled with ceramic offcuts from other building sites. A patio of orange trees rescued from Valencia sits at its heart. It's family-friendly, with high chairs and a baby-changing table, pets are welcome, and it suits groups.

Calle de Espronceda 34, in Ríos Rosas, in Madrid's Chamberí district, in the building of the former Teatro Espronceda.
Nearby
Ríos Rosas is a working residential grid north of the old centre, where restaurants answer to the people who live there rather than to visitors. It sits nearer Estadio Santiago Bernabéu than anything touristic, and the eating is unhurried, mid-priced and quietly confident. This is where you go for a proper lunch without theatre.
