La Terraza del Abuelo
La Terraza del Abuelo
La Terraza del Abuelo is the garden terrace of El Jamón del Abuelo, the Andalusian-Mediterranean restaurant that opened on Calle de Víctor Andrés Belaúnde in 1991, and it sits inside the Parque de Juan de la Cosa in Hispanoamérica, Chamartín. It holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol as a favourite of chefs Óscar Velasco and Montse Abellà, who call it an ideal little terrace for summer close to their home. The kitchen specialises in rabo de toro, ibéricos and fresh fish, and the Guía Repsol recommends the oxtail stew Córdoba-style, pulpo a la gallega and the house patatas del abuelo.

Background
About La Terraza del Abuelo
The Story
The family behind El Jamón del Abuelo opened their first restaurant in Madrid in 1991, with the dream of bringing the Andalusian cooking they had learned as children to the capital, built around an Andalusian patio and a family atmosphere. La Terraza del Abuelo is their outdoor sister in the Parque de Juan de la Cosa. The Guía Repsol lists it among the favourite Soletes of chefs Óscar Velasco and Montse Abellà of VelascoAbellà.
The Cuisine
Andalusian and Mediterranean, traditional with some modern touches. The house specialities are rabo de toro, ibéricos and fresh fish, and there are coeliac and vegan options.
What to Order
The Guía Repsol's picks are rabo de toro stewed Córdoba-style, pulpo a la gallega, the patatas del abuelo (with or without truffle), a courgette carpaccio and a milhojas of cream and custard with melted chocolate. On the El Jamón del Abuelo menu you'll also find Iberian ham croquetas, gazpacho or salmorejo, roast peppers with tuna belly, hake in almond sauce or fried in batter, sea bass baked in salt, Iberian pork sirloin with boletus, entrecôte and sirloin with Cabrales or pepper sauce, and an aged old-cow chuletón for two.
Groups and Hours
For groups there are set menus at €40, €50 and €60 per person. The terrace opens Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to midnight and closes on Monday. Bookings are taken by phone, and takeaway is available.
