Hipnótico is the new name for Fanático, the GLH Restaurants dining room at Paseo de la Castellana 43, set around a big elephant centrepiece. By day it's a Mediterranean and Spanish kitchen built for sharing, from tuna tartare and croquetas to grilled corvina and cured beef. At night the room switches to a dinner show with live performances and DJs, and it stays open until 02:00, or 02:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Background

About Hipnótico

The Story

Hipnótico is the current name of Fanático, a restaurant from the GLH Restaurants group at Paseo de la Castellana 43. The group renamed it but kept its stage-show identity and the elephant that dominates the dining room. It runs as a lunch restaurant by day and a dinner-show venue at night, and it also hosts corporate events and private celebrations.

The Cuisine

Mediterranean and Spanish cooking designed for sharing: oysters, Iberian ham, tuna tartare with egg yolk and soy, creamy croquetas, grilled Tudela artichokes, squid and langoustine rice in llauna, achiote-marinated corvina from the grill, and cured beef from a loin chop to a T-bone for two.

The Team

It's run by GLH Restaurants; the restaurant's own page doesn't name a head chef.

Experience

Hipnótico Dining Experience

You come here for the night as much as the food. The room is built around a huge central elephant, and after dark the staging takes over, with live performances, music and DJs through dinner, so expect volume rather than quiet conversation.

Getting There

On Paseo de la Castellana, 43, on the Chamberí side of the boulevard in the Almagro neighbourhood. Rubén Darío (L5) and Gregorio Marañón (L7/L10) are the closest metro stops.

Nearby

Almagro is embassy Madrid: broad streets, old money, and a hush the rest of the centre does not have. The restaurants match, with polished rooms, careful service and kitchens that do not need to shout. It sits between Chueca and Salamanca without quite belonging to either.
