Background

About Thai Bistro 57

The Story

Thai Bistro 57 was founded by couple Guy Oromi and Sabine Paquet, who fell in love with Thai cuisine during extended travels through Southeast Asia. Originally named Koh-Ndal Thai Bistro -- 'Koh' meaning island in Thai and 'Ndal' from Barcelona's epithet 'Condal', creating 'a Thai island in Barcelona'. The restaurant sits on Passeig de Sant Gervasi with a zen-inspired interior using natural materials to evoke a Phuket beach setting. The success of this location led to a second venue, Thai Bistro 10, on Carrer Enric Granados in the Eixample.

The Cuisine

The kitchen fuses Bangkok street food flavours with French bistro techniques and Mediterranean ingredients. Vegetables and herbs are sourced from nearby gardens, with local meat and seafood. Signature dishes include Coconut Dream mussels, pad thai (choice of chicken, prawns, beef or tofu), green curry with veal, salmon thaitar and Nutella and coconut crumble bao buns. Curries span yellow, red, green and khao soi, and there is a Tom Kha Kai soup served either on its own or with noodles. Most dishes are lactose-free with many gluten-free options.

The Team

Founders Guy Oromi and Sabine Paquet lead the restaurant concept, having developed the Thai-French fusion approach through their travels in Southeast Asia. This was their first gastronomic venture, followed by a second location, Thai Bistro 10 on Carrer Enric Granados in Eixample.
