Background

About Le Romane

The Story

Le Romane began as a family-run trattoria in Rome in 1995, founded by Renato and Loredana around a homemade pizza concept built for sharing. After more than 25 years in the Italian capital, the owners brought the same kitchen and the same sharing format to Barcelona, opening on Carrer de Muntaner in l'Esquerra de l'Eixample. The Barcelona restaurant later received the Ospitalità Italiana certification from the Italian Chamber of Commerce abroad, a mark given to Italian restaurants outside Italy that meet the programme's criteria on authenticity and quality.

The Cuisine

The kitchen sticks closely to Roman tradition. The pasta list runs through the four pillars of la cucina romana, spaghetti quadrati alla carbonara, cacio e pepe, gricia and bucatini all'amatriciana, alongside fresh stuffed pastas, risotti and a long bench of fritti like supplì, mozzarelline and carciofi alla giudia. The signature is the pizza format: a square base proofed for four days, cut into quarters and presented on a wooden board so each diner picks two flavours that combine across the table. The menu lists more than forty toppings across four price tiers.

The Team

Owners Renato and Loredana run the kitchen and dining room, carrying over the same recipes and pizza format from their original Rome restaurant. Service is in Italian, Spanish and English.
