Background

About Cafe de Paris

The Story

Cafe de Paris opened in 1972 and became one of Barcelona's iconic French-Catalan bistros. After a period of closure during the pandemic, the restaurant relaunched with chef Jordi Cunill at the helm and a refreshed interior by designer Cristina Cirera under the concept Le Nouveau Classique -- the same spirit, updated decor. The relaunch preserved the restaurant's classic DNA while modernising the space with contemporary touches. Over five decades later, Cafe de Paris remains a fixture of Sant Gervasi dining.

The Cuisine

Chef Jordi Cunill leads a kitchen blending French bistro tradition with Catalan market cooking. The signature entrecote Cafe de Paris with its butter sauce has been the house calling card for decades. Other staples include the garbanzos de Luis chickpea dish, grilled fish, milanesa with truffle, Chateaubriand, and seasonal market dishes. The menu also features sharing plates, handmade pasta, and charcoal-grilled cuts. The wine list complements the French-Catalan menu.

The Team

Chef Jordi Cunill leads the kitchen following the post-pandemic relaunch, maintaining the restaurant's classic repertoire while bringing contemporary energy. Cunill also oversees sister venue Rabbit's Bar, which some ingredients and preparations are shared with. Designer Cristina Cirera created the Le Nouveau Classique interior. The restaurant has been a gathering place for Sant Gervasi's professional class since 1972.
