Bera
Bera is Martín Berasategui's new ground-floor restaurant at Hotel Monument on Passeig de Gràcia, taking over the former Oría space and completing his Barcelona trio alongside Lasarte and rooftop Verbena. Head chef Gabriele Milani runs sharing-format Catalan and Basque comfort food with fine-dining technique.
Background
About Bera
The Story
Bera opened in spring 2026 on the ground floor of Hotel Monument 5* on Passeig de Gràcia, taking over the dining room previously occupied by Berasategui's Oría and completing his Barcelona trio at the same address: the three-Michelin-star Lasarte (entrance on Carrer de Mallorca), the rooftop Terraza Verbena, and now Bera as the casual entry point. The name itself is taken from the first four letters of Berasategui's surname, a direct nod to the chef behind the project. Berasategui, who holds 12 Michelin stars across his portfolio, more than any other Spanish chef, described it as 'a more open and welcoming way to approach my cooking, maintaining focus on the product and the pleasure of sharing.'
The Cuisine
A Catalan and Basque comfort-food menu run through fine-dining technique. Highlights from the printed carta include the Bokata Martintxo (Galician beef sirloin sandwich with sardine cream, €18), MB-style steak tartare tacos with Kalamata pearls (€14), truffled bikini with botifarra de perol and smoked scamorza (€14), pochas beans with clams in green sauce (€18), tender meatballs in porcini sauce (€16), Cantabrian anchovy with Arbequina oil (€7), and cod kokotxas with cockles (€23). Trilingual menu in Catalan, Spanish and English.
The Team
Day-to-day kitchen leadership is held by Gabriele Milani as executive chef, the same chef who runs the rooftop Terraza Verbena one floor up, under the culinary direction of Martín Berasategui. Berasategui's signature project at Pg. de Gràcia 75 is Lasarte, where Paolo Casagrande holds three Michelin stars; Bera is the group's casual companion concept on the ground floor.
