News & Coffee began in December 2019, when Pablo Pardo and his partners took over a long-shuttered newsstand kiosk on Passeig de Sant Joan and turned it into specialty coffee plus curated reads. The beans are roasted in-house in Girona; the magazines run from Apartamento to 032c. Strictly coffee-to-go, from a kiosk of roughly eight square metres.

Background

About News & Coffee

The Story

News & Coffee began in December 2019, when Pablo Pardo and his partners took over a long-shuttered newsstand kiosk on Passeig de Sant Joan and reimagined it as a place for coffee to go and curated reads. The idea was born on a bike ride through the neighbourhood, inspired by New York street culture: people walking with a cup in one hand and something to read in the other. The kiosk keeps that dual identity — specialty coffee alongside independent magazines, zines and books, from titles like Apartamento and 032c. The coffee is roasted in-house in Girona, where Pardo learned to roast through Christian Meier, the former pro cyclist behind Approachable Coffee. From that first roughly eight-square-metre kiosk, the concept grew across Barcelona to Plaça de Francesc Macià and Gràcia, and later beyond the city. It's a coffee-first stop, not a sit-down meal.

News & Coffee Dining Experience

A compact, walk-up kiosk of roughly eight square metres rather than an enclosed café, so it works as a coffee-to-go stop with a curated rack of independent magazines and books. It sits on the tree-lined Passeig de Sant Joan in the Dreta de l'Eixample, a short walk from Arc de Triomf. Expect specialty espresso and filter from beans the company roasts itself.
