La Terraza del Central sits on the eighth floor of the Grand Hotel Central, high above Via Laietana in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. It's the rooftop of a 1920s Noucentisme building — designed by Adolf Florensa and commissioned by Francesc Cambó — and it wears that history openly: at sunset the lighting picks out a 1920s sgraffito mural by artist Oleguer Junyent that, the hotel says, is only visible from up here. The setting pairs an infinity pool (reserved for hotel guests) with Balinese beds, a cocktail bar and a restaurant, all looking out over the old town rooftops toward the Mediterranean.
