Daniel Roca is a co-founder and co-chef of Barra Alta, the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi restaurant he opened in March 2018 with Marco Arriaga and César Guillén. The Repsol-Recomendado restaurant is built around product-led cooking with a bar and open kitchen, and expanded to Madrid in 2022. Roca trained at Dos Cielos, Tickets, and El Celler de Can Roca.

Biography
Early years
Roca trained through some of Barcelona's most-decorated kitchens — Dos Cielos (the Hermanos Torres' starred restaurant at the time), Tickets and Niño Viejo (Adrià brothers), El Celler de Can Roca, Tapas 24, and La Taverna del Suculent.
Career
In March 2018 Roca, Marco Arriaga, and César Guillén opened Barra Alta on Carrer de Laforja in Barcelona's Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. The format combines a set menu of traditional dishes with contemporary touches and an open kitchen with bar where French oysters and produce-led plates are prepared in front of guests. Four years later, in 2022, Roca opened Barra Alta Madrid at Lagasca 19 in the Salamanca district. Both restaurants carry a Repsol Recomendado.
Philosophy
Roca describes the restaurant's identity in one word: product. The menu is built around top-quality, fresh, seasonal ingredients in simple preparations — what he calls the 'real protagonist' of the set menu. The counter format keeps the experience immediate and conversational.
