Background
About Kricky Pelton
The Story
Kricky Pelton is Jota's homage to American cooking, inspired by memories of Texas and New Mexico. The name comes from a person, a mother who taught that cooking is about making moments that stay with you. The result lands somewhere between Dallas and Madrid.
The Cuisine
The food is American comfort classics done their own way: smash burgers, crispy chicken and a roster of sauces the place is a little obsessed with.
The Carta
The smash burgers start with the Flash, 50 to 150 g of beef with cheddar, ketchup, mustard and two slices of sweet pickle (from €6.90), and the Uncle Jota's with bacon, caramelised onion, cheddar and the house sauce (€13.50); both come as thicker 'Fatty' burgers too. The chicken burgers are 200 g of crispy breaded chicken, the Hot Kricky with a Korean-style spicy mayo. Starters lean Texan, Dallas Cowboys chicken fingers with BBQ sauce and Texas Rangers wings, and the sauces are sold separately for €1.50. There's an all-day brunch of pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs with a milkshake, shakes made with Priegola milk and Häagen-Dazs, and pancakes for dessert, including one served with a 20 g tin of osetra caviar (€57.90). A second Kricky Pelton is on Calle de Serrano 93.

Nearby
Chamberí is an elegant, residential district north of the centre, quieter and more grown-up than Malasaña or Chueca. Calle de Ponzano cuts through it as one of the city's best-known tapeo streets, and the surrounding blocks mix classic bakeries and neighbourhood bars with a wave of newer, more ambitious kitchens.
