About Coconut Boy

The Story

Coconut Boy describes its carta as handmade and inspired by years of travel through Southeast Asia, with each dish meant for sharing. First-timers just say how spicy they like it, mild, medium or very hot, and the kitchen handles the rest.

The Cuisine

Thai fusion with Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese touches. The carta flags spice levels and includes vegetarian, lactose-free and gluten-free options.

Starters to Share

Starters run from a roasted pumpkin soup with coconut milk and massaman curry (€7.95) to salmon tataki with blood orange (€17.95). In between: pork dumplings with chili jam emulsion, chipotle and yuzu (€10.95), prawn black bao with house kimchi and sriracha mayo (€15.95), pork belly bao with Chinese BBQ sauce, Thai croquetas of boletus, chicken satay with peanut sauce and fresh coconut, a spicy green papaya salad with nam prik, red-curry samosas with goat's cheese and plum sauce, and duck rolls with beetroot nuoc cham.

Mains and Desserts

The signature is the very spicy Coconut Boy curry with Iberian pork cheek, asparagus and pak choi (€23.45). There's also a Thai green curry with wild corvina, prawn and squid, a prawn or chicken pad thai (€18.45), Singapore chili crab with roti (€29.95), duck magret with blood-orange demi-glace, pork ribs in a galangal hot-sweet sauce cooked in master stock, steamed sea bass with Korean kimchi sauce and a charcoal-grilled coquelet with house sweet chili, which takes 20 minutes. Desserts include a mango and passion fruit crème brûlée and a chocolate mousse with tamarind marshmallows. At the bar, ask for a classic: Cosmopolitan, Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini, Moscow Mule or Negroni.

Getting There

Modesto Lafuente 47, in Ríos Rosas, in the Chamberí district, a residential grid north of the old centre.

Nearby

Ríos Rosas is a working residential grid north of the old centre, where restaurants answer to the people who live there rather than to visitors. It sits nearer Estadio Santiago Bernabéu than anything touristic, and the eating is unhurried, mid-priced and quietly confident. This is where you go for a proper lunch without theatre.
