Bite Me is a small vegan café on Plaza de la Beata María Ana de Jesús in Arganzuela, near metro Legazpi, and it holds a Repsol Solete. A Canadian-Madrileña couple started it; everything is plant-based and made from scratch each morning, from the halos (their vegan doughnuts) to bagels and specialty coffee.

Background

About Bite Me

The Story

Bite Me opened in October 2018 on Plaza de la Beata María Ana de Jesús, near Matadero Madrid, the project of Sandra and Joel Little, a Canadian-Madrileña couple who met in Canada in 2013 and wanted a vegan business of their own. The aim was something 100% plant-based but impossible to tell apart from a good traditional bake. The start was hard: a fire in the premises that November forced them to close for a while. The shop had been a neighbourhood pastry shop for almost a century, and the new café won the barrio over. It holds a Repsol Solete.

The Cuisine

Entirely plant-based: vegan doughnuts (halos), bagels, breakfast and brunch plates, sandwiches, and specialty coffee. By the café's account the coffee comes from Tornado Coffee Roasters in Barcelona, with Alpro Barista oat, soy and almond milks, plus a house-made chai latte and summer lemonades. The full menu with prices is on the café's own site.

Bite Me Dining Experience

Small, cosy and genuinely quiet. The energy is low by design; this isn't a room that fills with noise. The service reads warm, and there's a terrace if you'd rather be outside.
