Background

About Dr. Zhang

The Story

Dr. Zhang opened in 2018 in Sant Antoni under the rallying cry #FeelingDumpling, bringing the Chinese tradition of jiaozi to a corner of the Eixample better known for its market and aperitivo bars. The original Sepúlveda 137 dumpling bar has since been joined by a second, larger location, Dr. Zhang Dumplings & More, on Carrer Aribau 254.

The Cuisine

The kitchen specializes in hand-folded dumplings, jiaozi, gyozas, wantons, shao mai, momos and bao, paired with pan-Asian dishes that pull from Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese cooking. Expect dan dan noodles, red curry laksa, Korean-style fried chicken, duck-and-date gyozas and corn ribs glazed with miso-lime butter. Several items are marked vegetarian or vegan.

The Team

The dumplings are prepared in-house from dough to filling. The team draws on the founders' time spent in Asia, adapting traditional techniques to ingredients available in Barcelona while keeping prices accessible.
