Five Barcelona restaurants are in the running for TheFork Awards 2026, the annual prize for Spain's best restaurant openings of the previous year. In this fifth edition, 41 restaurants across 14 autonomous communities were nominated as the best openings of 2025, chosen by a jury of 56 chefs holding Michelin stars.
Catalonia is the most-represented region with nine nominees, and five of them are in Barcelona: Melós, Casa Fiero, Direkte, Franca and Macambo. Direkte is chef Arnau Muñío's counter-dining room, which relocated from the Boqueria market to the Eixample; Macambo is chef Roberto Sihuay's contemporary Peruvian kitchen in Sant Gervasi.
The winners are decided two ways. The jury picks the category awards, while diners choose the People's Choice award through public voting on TheFork Awards' site, open from 14 September until 11 October 2026. The results are announced at a gala on 16 November at the Gran Teatro CaixaBank in Madrid.
