Biography

Early years

Rodríguez was born in Bolivia and raised in Venezuela. He trained as a chemist and was on that career path when a summer visit to his brother in Paris changed his direction — he was captivated by the city's cooking and made the decision to pursue the kitchen instead.

Career

Rodríguez studied at the Sant Pol de Mar hotel school in Catalonia, where he met his future business partner Joey Attieh. The two worked together at the two-Michelin-star Moments at Mandarin Oriental Barcelona. In December 2023 they opened âme — French for 'soul' — in the Eixample. The restaurant is run by a team of only four, all of them chefs, with no dedicated front-of-house staff. âme carries both a Michelin Selected and a Repsol Recomendado distinction.

Philosophy

Rodríguez and Attieh designed âme as a subtle, passionate tribute to French cuisine — modern French technique applied through a Mediterranean product lens, with most ingredients coming from local producers. The all-chef staff model keeps the kitchen and dining room as one operation.
