Biography
Early years
Gascons grew up inside the family restaurant tradition that began with his grandparents' 1918 bakery in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and continued when his parents Eduard Gascons and Maribel opened Els Tinars in Llagostera (Girona) in 1978.
Career
Gascons trained at Gaig (Barcelona), L'Esguard (Sant Andreu de Llavaneres), Sant Pau (Sant Pol de Mar) under Carme Ruscalleda, and Martín Berasategui in Lasarte-Oria. Since 1999 he has led the kitchen at Els Tinars, which earned its Michelin star in 2008 — an award he has held continuously. He was named Best Young Chef in 2006 and Best Chef of Girona in 2008. In early 2015 he opened Informal inside the five-star Hotel The Serras at Passeig de Colom in Barcelona — a casual Catalan-Mediterranean restaurant designed for sharing. The Gascons restaurants also include Bell-Lloc and Bruna.
