Biography

Early years

García trained at Etxebarri in the Basque Country — the foundational wood-fire restaurant of Bittor Arginzoniz, holding multiple Michelin stars — and at Noma in Copenhagen, before returning to Barcelona to run the kitchen at Albert Raurich's Dos Pebrots.

Career

In 2020 García opened Ultramarinos Marín on Carrer de Balmes 187 in Sant Gervasi-Galvany. The restaurant is divided into two zones: a 12-seat counter bar where guests watch chefs cook live, and a more tranquil asador zone with oak and olive wood-fired grills. The kitchen makes its own chistorra, smokes its own fish, cures its own sausages, and prepares its sauces by hand. Ultramarinos Marín has been highlighted by The World's 50 Best Discovery for its local following and respect within the chef community, is in the Michelin Guide selection, and carries a Repsol Recomendado.

Philosophy

García's cooking is built on restraint and purity: no unnecessary garnishes, deep flavour, and well-honed technique. The asador format — oak and olive wood — and the in-house charcuterie and smoking are the manifestations of that philosophy.
