📍 Divina Locura –

Background

About Divina Locura

The Story

Divina Locura is a restaurant in Valdebebas, in the Hortaleza district of northern Madrid, built on good produce treated simply so it keeps its own flavour. The house sums up its style as the day's produce, precise cooking times, traditional cooking and touches of imagination, and it has three spaces to choose from: dining room, bar and terrace.

The Cuisine

The cooking is built on quality product, treated simply to keep its own flavour, with local ingredients, short cooking times and a traditional base lifted by a few imaginative touches. The wine list runs past 100 references across Spanish denominations, with a few international bottles.

The Carta

The carta opens with vegetables and salads, such as the day's best tomato with bonito ventresca or a griddled artichoke with ham shavings, then 'locuras a compartir': ham or carabinero croquetas, torrezno cooked twice with pickled onion, grilled octopus with truffled parmentier, veal sweetbreads with a truffled egg, and cannelloni of pork and boletus. Raw plates include a beef steak tartare and a ceviche of roast monkfish and prawn. There are rice dishes, from a creamy monkfish and prawn rice to oxtail with boletus and a llauna of duck, mushroom and foie, and from the charcoal grill come monkfish, hake, corvina, Iberian pluma, beef tenderloin and a T-bone in the Josper for two (€67). Most mains are €24 to €30, and bread service with an aperitivo is €2.60.

Wine, Cocktails and Group Menus

The cellar runs past 100 references, from classics to newer bottles, trying to cover most Spanish denominations with a few international surprises, and the bartenders make cocktails and mixed drinks. Group menus run from €45 to €60, each with sharing starters, a choice of main and dessert, plus a bottle of wine for every four guests; there's also a standing cocktail menu at €45 with an hour of open bar for beer and set wines.

Calle Fernando Higueras 19, in Valdebebas, part of the Hortaleza district in northern Madrid.

Nearby

Valdefuentes sits in the far northeast of Madrid, part of the Hortaleza district, where office towers and newer residential blocks have replaced the open land the name recalls. The eating here serves the business day more than the evening, with lunch spots and coffee counters outnumbering destination dining. It is a quieter, more suburban corner of the city.
