Slow & Low will close for good on 17 October 2026, chef Frank Beltrí announced, ending eight years at Carrer del Comte Borrell 119 in Barcelona's Sant Antoni neighbourhood. The one-Michelin-star restaurant opened in 2018, and Beltrí says the call came after a long stretch of thinking it over: "Después de un largo periodo de reflexión, hemos decidido que Slow & Low cerrará sus puertas como restaurante gastronómico" ("After a long period of reflection, we've decided Slow & Low will close its doors as a fine-dining restaurant"), he said.

It comes down to numbers. "La cantidad de clientes que necesitamos para ser rentables no los tenemos" ("We don't have the customer volume we need to be profitable"), Beltrí told Hule y Mantel. The company behind Slow & Low isn't going anywhere: it will keep running Bar Canyí, its more casual tapas bar in the same portfolio.

For his next move, Beltrí is planning a new, more informal and affordable concept, one he's described as built around casual food, sandwiches and music. No location has been confirmed yet.
