Catalonia's government unveiled a free 'Cuina Catalana' seal for restaurants on 20 July 2026, plus an expert task force and a fourth Catalan Cuisine Congress set for Tarragona in spring 2027.
President Salvador Illa presented Catalonia's ‘Cuina Catalana’ plan on 20 July 2026 at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya. At its center is a free seal for restaurants committed to local product and Catalan recipes, which the Fundació Institut Català de la Cuina i de la Cultura Gastronòmica, chaired by Pepa Aymamí, has handed the Generalitat to use at no cost.
Agriculture minister Òscar Ordeig will convene an expert group to draw up a 2026-2028 action plan. Disfrutar chef Eduard Xatruch took part in the launch, telling the room Catalan cuisine is “the families who preserve it at home.”
The next milestone is the fourth Catalan Cuisine Congress, set for Tarragona in spring 2027, seven years after the last edition.
