Wukun Xu was born in Seville to Chinese parents and grew up helping out in his family's Chinese restaurant in Triana, before moving to Madrid.

Xu opened Bammbao in Usera in the early 2020s, blending his Chinese roots with the Andalusian culture he grew up in. The restaurant closed briefly for renovations and reopened in June 2025 to a waiting list of regulars, and it holds a Guía Repsol Solete (Spring 2026).
