Víctor Torres is the Catalan head chef of Quirat at the InterContinental Barcelona, a one-Michelin-star, one-Repsol-Sol restaurant. In 2018, at age twenty-five, he became Spain's youngest Michelin-starred chef at Les Magnòlies in Arbúcies; Quirat earned its star a year after opening in 2023.
Biography
Early years
Torres trained at the Hofmann culinary school in Barcelona and built international experience through stages at Caelis (Barcelona), Mugaritz (Basque Country), Michel Bras (France), and the now-closed Fäviken (Sweden). Family memories (Andalusian salmorejo, Majorcan tumbet) and Catalan culture and travels shape his cooking foundation.
Career
In 2018 Torres earned his first Michelin star at Les Magnòlies in Arbúcies, becoming Spain's youngest Michelin-starred chef at twenty-five. He went on to lead Quirat (the gastronomic restaurant at the InterContinental Barcelona) which earned its Michelin star in November 2023, just a year after opening, and was awarded a Repsol Sol in 2025.
Philosophy
Torres describes his cuisine at Quirat as '100% Catalan': respecting territory, recipes, and wines, with the explicit aim of showing Catalan tradition to international visitors. The plating is minimalist and pure, often built from a small number of ingredients per dish.

Wine lists at Barcelona's top restaurants are usually invisible. Behind every recommendation is a person who spent months tasting and years building the cellar you didn't know existed. Here are twelve who shape what the city drinks right now: industry-award winners, multi-venue consultants, sake specialists, and multi-generational family stewards. Ordered by professional authority, not by restaurant rank.
