Nandu Jubany is a Catalan chef who has run Can Jubany in Calldetenes with his wife Anna Orte since 1995. The restaurant holds one Michelin star and five Repsol Soles. Biography
Early years
Jubany was born on 19 January 1971 in Monistrol de Calders. He started cooking at his family's restaurant Urbisol as head chef at eighteen and worked through other kitchens including Marcel (Sabadell), Arrendajo (Barcelona), Honda Sala (Olost), Cabo Mayor (Madrid), and Arzak and Bodegón Alejandro in the Basque Country during the 1980s.
Career
In 1995 Jubany and Anna Orte opened Can Jubany in the Plana de Vic, near Calldetenes — the restaurant that has anchored his career ever since. Can Jubany holds one Michelin star and five Repsol Soles. In 2018 the couple opened Pur and the adjacent Impur cocktail bar in Barcelona's Eixample, adding a Repsol Sol in the city. The wider Jubany group now spans more than a dozen restaurants and hospitality projects, including Mas Albereda Hotel (Sant Julià de Vilatorta), Diamant (Andorra), El Convent de Blanes, Pecador (Ibiza), Can Carlitos, Es Còdol Foradat, Aigua-Aire (Formentera), Foc (Singapore), and the Mas d'Osor events space in the Montseny.
Philosophy
Jubany's cooking is built on Catalan tradition reinterpreted through modern technique — local and seasonal product worked with detailed care. His group format extends that registered to a wider geography while keeping Can Jubany as the gravitational centre.
