Soler trained with several of the foundational figures of modern Catalan cuisine — Josep Maria Boix, Fermi Puig, Ferran Adrià, and Santi Santamaria — and is an alumnus of elBulli.

Career

In 1990 Soler and his partner Reyes Lizán opened Tram-Tram in a historic building on Carrer Major in Sarrià — a two-floor restaurant with a garden that has now run continuously for more than 35 years. Reyes leads the dining room; Soler runs the kitchen. The restaurant carries one Repsol Sol and has built its reputation on staying out of the spotlight: 'honest cuisine that isn't seduced by the siren song of trends,' as the local press has described it.

Soler's cuisine sits squarely in the French-Catalan classic register: top-quality ingredients, careful technique, and updates to traditional recipes rather than reinvention. The restaurant's longevity — over 35 years in Sarrià — is itself part of the identity.
