Ángel Alonso co-founded Restaurante Dantxari, a Basque-Navarre restaurant in Madrid's Argüelles neighbourhood, in 1997 alongside Eduardo Navarrina and Jesús Medina. He trained at El Amparo before Dantxari and led its kitchen for years, training Rayner Medina as his successor. Alonso and Navarrina have since retired from the restaurant; Jesús Medina remains involved, and Rayner Medina now runs the kitchen Alonso built.
