The Oli de Mallorca protected-designation council has endorsed the 'Lisbon Manifesto', a document urging that extra-virgin olive oil be built into public-health strategies for preventing chronic disease.

The regulatory council of the Oli de Mallorca protected designation of origin has endorsed the Lisbon Manifesto, a scientific declaration on the health benefits of olive oil.

According to Última Hora, the manifesto emerged from the second Olive Oil World Congress, held in Lisbon in July 2026, and has been signed by more than sixty organisations. It calls for extra-virgin olive oil to be integrated into public-health strategies aimed at preventing chronic disease. The Mallorca council's backing aligns the island's PDO with that wider push.
