Cap Rocat
Cap Rocat occupies a former military fortress on the Bay of Palma in Cala Blava, Llucmajor, restored by architect Antonio Obrador and now holding 2 Michelin Keys. The estate sits inside a Protected Natural Area with roughly 2km of coastline, and its two restaurants, La Fortaleza and Sea Club, anchor the food side of the stay. It's listed with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Mr & Mrs Smith and Tablet, and appears in Monocle's guide to Palma hotels.
Background
About Cap Rocat
Cap Rocat was built as a military fortress to watch over the Bay of Palma, and it never served that defensive purpose, the role it was built for simply never came to pass. The building carries National Monument (Heritage Asset) status and sits inside a Protected Natural Area / Natura 2000 site, which meant the conversion into a hotel had to happen under strict heritage rules. Architect Antonio Obrador led that renovation, and the project went on to win international recognition, including a Europa Nostra award. The Balearic tourism register files it at 5-star Gran Luxe under the "hotel rural" category.
Dining
Restaurants in the hotel
Food and drink here run through two rooms. La Fortaleza is the main restaurant and carries 2 Soles, a rating from Spain's Guía Repsol guide. Sea Club sits alongside it as the hotel's second on-site restaurant. Add in a spa with massage and hammam treatments, and dining plus wellness are clearly where Cap Rocat puts its energy.
