La Cuadrilla is a bar-restaurant on Avenida del Monasterio de Silos in Montecarmelo, in the north of Madrid, and it holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol, awarded in the guide's 2022 neighbourhood round. The small Cuadrilla group, which also runs rooms on Calle de Alberto Alcocer and in the Caleido centre by the Cuatro Torres, builds on its Asturian roots and the old-school bar-restaurante, updated with lighter, healthier plates and careful presentation. The Guía Repsol highlights the young atmosphere, good produce and good wines, from Cabrales croquetas to a citrus-marinated courgette carpaccio.

Background

About La Cuadrilla

The Story

Cuadrilla started from a simple idea: the classic Spanish bar-restaurante, given a fresh look for today and rooted in the owners' Asturian origins. The group now has three addresses: this one in Montecarmelo, one on Calle de Alberto Alcocer in Chamartín, and a third in the Caleido shopping centre by the Cuatro Torres, which also works as an events space. The Montecarmelo room holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol.

The Cuisine

Traditional cooking with Asturian roots, alongside lighter, current and healthier dishes, with produce treated as the base of everything. There are coeliac and vegan options, and a wine list of its own for this address.

What to Order

Start at the bar with the Cuadrilla gilda (gordal olive, piparra and boquerón or anchovy), a brioche of slow-stewed beef or tempura prawn with spicy Japanese sauce, or tacos of Iberian pork belly with guacamole and pickled onion. From the kitchen: gambas cristal with free-range fried eggs, fried hake with chips and citrus mayonnaise, griddled bluefin tuna with fried eggs and straw potatoes, roast hake on courgette ribbons, confit artichoke with egg yolk and cured ham, a roast-pumpkin salad and a mortadella pizza. The Guía Repsol singles out the Cabrales croquetas and the courgette carpaccio with citrus, pesto and dried tomato.

Hours and Booking

La Cuadrilla closes on Monday. From Tuesday to Thursday it serves lunch from 12:30 and dinner from 20:00, and on Friday and Saturday it stays open from 12:30 until 01:00. Reservations are taken.
