Lavapiés' Tapapiés tapas festival will skip its 16th edition in 2026. Organisers expected around 90,000 people last year but more than half a million came, and they're redesigning the format for 2027.

There's no Tapapiés this autumn. The Asociación de Comerciantes de Lavapiés Distrito 12, which runs the festival, confirmed it won't hold its 16th edition in 2026 and is working on a format that doesn't disrupt life for neighbours. Its president, Carmen Gordo, said the association expected around 90,000 visitors last year, but attendance passed half a million.

The festival had run for 15 consecutive editions since 2011. Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida said he respected the decision and backed a return, which the organisers are aiming for in 2027. No 2027 dates or format have been announced yet.
